Professional tank cleaning

Tank cleaning

Tanks, silos, IBCs, drums and waste containers play a vital role in storage, transport and production on a daily basis. After use, residues often remain on the inner walls, on the bottom, around connections and in hard-to-reach corners. These include liquids, fats, oils, powders, pigments, foodstuffs, chemicals or caked-on product residues.

Using tank washing heads, high-pressure technology, hot water and, where necessary, cleaning agents, the interior is thoroughly cleaned without staff having to work manually in or around the tank. This ensures the tank is once again safe and in a condition that can be verified, ready for reuse, inspection, product changeover or further processing.

Safety, hygiene and sustainability

Challenges of professional tank cleaning

Tank cleaning is suitable for situations where manual cleaning is awkward, time-consuming or difficult to monitor. A tank often has limited access, whilst contamination spreads across the entire inner wall. Examples include grease, oil, powder, chemicals, cement residues, foodstuffs or caked-on product deposits.

With a professional tank cleaning system:

  • clean your tanks, silos, IBCs and drums more evenly;
  • reduce the amount of manual work around or inside the tank;
  • remove any residues that could affect the next product;
  • work more safely when dealing with vapours, residues or cleaning with hot water;
  • reduce cleaning time for repetitive tasks;
  • you make the cleaning process more repeatable for staff.

Waterkracht tailors the cleaning system to the tank, the level of contamination and the desired cleaning result. In this way, the technology is adapted to the application, rather than the other way round.

The right method for your tanks

The best results with bespoke installations

Every tank cleaning job begins with a clear question: what exactly needs to be cleaned? An IBC containing liquid residues requires a different approach to a silo with caked-on contamination or a process vessel in which chemical products have been stored.

Waterkracht takes into account, amongst other things, the dimensions of the tank, the opening, the type of material, the capacity and the level of contamination. Based on this, we determine which combination of tank wash head, working pressure, water flow rate, temperature and, where necessary, cleaning agent is appropriate.

A higher operating pressure may be required for stubborn deposits. In the case of fats, oils or certain foodstuffs, hot water helps to loosen residues more quickly. Rotating tank wash heads distribute the water jets evenly across the tank wall. For specific types of contamination, a cleaning agent tailored to the process and the materials used can be added.

Waterkracht supplies individual components and, where necessary, assembles complete systems. These include tank washing heads, high-pressure pumps, hot-water systems, pipework, manhole covers, control systems and installation. Following installation, we train staff in safe operation, inspection and maintenance.

Waterkracht tank wash heads

Waterkracht offers a wide range of tank washing heads for cleaning drums, tanks, silos, IBCs and waste containers of various sizes. A tank washing head is inserted into the tank via an opening or manhole and distributes the water over the inner surface by means of a rotating motion.

Our tank cleaning heads are suitable for a wide range of applications: from compact tanks with a small access point to large industrial tanks. The correct model depends on the access, tank diameter, degree of soiling, operating pressure, water flow rate and the desired cleaning time.

The rotating action creates an even spray pattern inside the tank. As a result, the walls, base and hard-to-reach areas are cleaned more effectively than with manual rinsing. This makes tank washing heads particularly suitable for industries where regular and controllable tank cleaning forms part of the process. Examples include the food industry, the chemical industry, recycling and transport.
