Teccuro: Robust pressure testing equipment for pressure testing on land and at sea

In 2024, Waterkracht developed a customized high-pressure system for TECCURO for pressure testing pipelines. This case study describes how a powerful, mobile, and customer-specific system supports TECCURO in performing accurate strength and density tests, both onshore and offshore.

About TECCURO

TECCURO is a Dutch company based in Dedemsvaart that specializes in pressure testing pipelines and piping systems, among other things. By subjecting pipes to high pressure – often with water – TECCURO checks whether they meet the requirements in terms of strength and density. This is done at locations throughout the Netherlands and beyond, both above ground and underground, and on onshore and offshore installations.

Pressure testing is an essential part of the delivery of pipeline sections, where safety and precision are paramount. TECCURO uses various high-pressure systems for standard projects. However, with larger pipes, it takes more time to build up the pressure. That is why TECCURO purchased a new high-pressure system, suitable for higher flow rates. Waterkracht was chosen because of the pleasant contact and proximity. This is the first collaboration between the two parties.

The challenges

TECCURO was looking for a pressure testing system that...

  • Could reliably deliver high pressures of up to 250 bar and was suitable for varying flow rates (max. 106 liters/minute)

    • This is the maximum pressure and flow within the available motor power, so that the system could continue to operate on a standard 125A plug.

  • Was easy to transport and safe to hoist – even offshore

  • Visually matched their brand identity

Our approach

Waterkracht developed a custom high-pressure system with adjustable pressure control and frequency control for optimal efficiency. The installation allows the user to accurately pressurize to, for example, 40, 160, or 250 bar – depending on the piping system and the task.

The frequency control ensures energy savings and flexibility in the use of the electric motor, while the solid construction guarantees safety in any working environment.

  • The complete system is built into a robust, hoistable frame – suitable for harsh environments, such as maritime applications
  • The construction is spray-painted in TECCURO's corporate style: black frame and an orange pump/motor unit
  • The system is modular and compact, yet powerful enough for demanding projects

Implementation

The project was carried out in close collaboration:

  • Joint drafting of the requirements package

  • Engineering and concept design by Waterkracht

  • Discussion and processing of feedback (such as the higher frame variant)

  • Production of the frame by selected suppliers

  • Internal assembly of the installation at Waterkracht

  • Test phase and final delivery to TECCURO

Results

Results

After delivery, there were a few points of attention:

  • The seal was not completely adequate

  • The machine was spray-painted in the wrong color

Waterkracht resolved these issues quickly and carefully. The system is now being used successfully in various pipe tests. This provides TECCURO with an efficient and safe way to perform pressure tests under varying conditions—with minimal preparation and maximum control.
